My teaching philosophy is grounded in self-efficacy or what I term the "can do" attitude. Specifically, I believe that my role as a teacher is to help students explore their place in the world and to develop their own self-efficacy and promote self efficacy in others.  This goal is important to how I conceptualize teaching because I view learning as a process that should include personal as well as intellectual growth. I believe that attending to this focus in teaching provides students with a dynamic learning experience that allows them to achieve understanding of course material through a belief that they are capable of  finding any answer to any question.  I beleive that success in school is directly tied to the degree to which a student feels ownership of their own learning. Therefore I actively try to promote an engaging learning environment that allows for student voice and choice. One of the primary ways I achieve this is by gettting to know my students, letting them get to know me, and explaining to them my role as their facilitator in the learning process.  Educators cannot expect students to be interested in learning if we do not convey our own enthusiasm for learning. When introducing myself at the start of each semester, I let students know that I find technology and entrepreneurship  particularly appealing because it is creative and  always changing and I constantly get to learn new things.  It allows me to get students excited about learning and encouragesg them to think in a way that will prepare them for their future career.  The career that does not yet exist:)
